In his own court chronicle, Badshahnama Shah Jahan states that a grand mansion of unique splendor, capped with a dome, (imaarat-e-alishan wagumbaze) in Agra was taken from the Jaipur Maharaja Jaisingh for Mumtaz’s burial. The ex-Maharaja of Jaipur is said to retain in his secret collection two orders from Shah Jahan for the surrender of the Taj Building http://veda.wikidot.com/taj-mahal

Should guilty seek asylum here.

like one pardoned he becomes free of sin.

Should a sinner make his way to this mansion.

All his past sins are to be washed away.

The sight of this mansion creates sorrowing sighs;

And the sun and the moon shed tears from their eyes.

In this world edefice has been made;

To display therby the creators glory.
